Medical Services
All our patients retain their own GP, when they come into our nursing homes, provided the home is within a 5 mile radius of the GP practice. If this not possible the nurse manager will arrange a transfer to a practice of the patients choice.

A range of multidisciplinary practitioners – dentists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, chiropodists, dieticians, tissue viability nurses, hospice palliative care team can treat the patient following a referral from the GP and hospital appointments and transport required are arranged.

All patients retain contact with their care manager and social worker. Regular review meetings are held patients, family and nursing staff participate in the arrange reviews.

No ‘top-ups’ charged. Rates set by local trust. A £30 per week top up will apply on a selection of single En-suite rooms occupied by new residents from the 6th of June 2016 in Our Mother of Mercy and St. Joseph’s Nursing Homes.

  • Private and semi private rooms are available. Many rooms have ensuite facilities. All bedrooms are fully appointed with specialised quality beds, over bed tables, wash hand basins, wardrobes that include lockable drawers. Nurse call bells are within easy reach of beds and bathrooms.
  • Sitting room – Our sitting rooms are designed to encourage the residents to socialise.
  • Dining room – Our residents can enjoy their meals in the pleasant surroundings of the dining rooms. Home cooked food is served promptly. A daily menu is available. Assistance is provided for those who require it. Specalised tables and chairs are also available.
  • Disabled bath/shower rooms are located close to all bedrooms. Toilets, hand-washing, and showering equipment, is provided to ensure safety and ease of use for those who are disabled.
  • Sensory rooms (available at Avila / St. Josephs) to encourage relaxation
  • Chapel that provides a Sacred space for quiet reflection (Avila, St. Josephs, St. McCartans)
  • Oratory provides a space for those who prefer periods of quiet reflection (Our Mother of Mercy)
  • Visitor areas provided for relatives, tea/coffee making facilities free of charge
  • Hairdressing rooms, weekly visits
  • Laundry all done on premises
  • Minibus, specially adapted vans/minibus, residents and families can avail of these free of charge for hospital appointments, outings etc.
  • Activities programme which includes music, reminiscence, bingo, hand massage, arts and crafts, aims to entertain our residents and sustain their wellbeing. Weather permitting our residents can enjoy the patio area and gardens and avail of the many trips organised during the summer months.
